Bagpipes...
Essentially a bag with a pipe coming out of it. The bag was usually made of sheep or goat skin and the pipe was made of reed.
Crumhorn...
First invented in the 1400's as a double reeded instrument. Looks like an upside down cane/walking stick. It was a horn.
Flute...
Not that different from a modern day flute. It was played by flue-minstrels (flute musicians).
Gemshorn...
Played like a flute, you blow into it and change the pitch by blocking different holes with your fingers to make a tune. Made out of an ox horn. Looks a little bit like a tiger tooth/elephant tusk.
Lizard...
A horn like looks like an 's' or a snake. Can be pulled into 2 pieces.
Pipe...
Extremely basic instrument - usually with only 3 sound holes.
Shawm...
a reed instrument with vent holes - kind of like a modern day clarinet.
Trumpet...
Usually made up of 4 parts and it was metal. Most of the time it was associated with pageants and other special events. It was a very long instrument and sometimes people would attach flags to them - just like in the picture above.
